Deputy Manager - Ben Madigan Nursing Home, Newtownabbey.

Ben Madigan is a 64-bed, 2-floor Nursing Home, providing general nursing and dementia support, located in Newtownabbey. They have an Activity Therapist who works 4 days a week, offering games, crafts and motor skill assistance with our Care Assistant's, assisting daily with movie days, singing, dancing and keeping spirits up. Daily living requirements for our residents would include washing and dressing, assistance with meals with promoting independence as much as possible. We are a pet friendly home and have around the clock nursing care. All medication will be handled by our qualified RGNs with Care Assistant's completing food and fluid charts daily. We have a family attitude as well as a strong work ethic - we hope to have you join the team at Ben Madigan Care Home.

Main Purpose of the Role

To support the Home Manager in ensuring that the home is maintained in accordance with our regulatory bodies. To line manage the senior team to ensure high standards of care and service are achieved within the home to regulatory standards. To support the Home Manager in managing resources to ensure sales and profits are maximised.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Hold regular staff meetings to foster good communications and feedback
  2. Maintain positive contact with commissioners and referrers, developing confidence in service provisions
  3. Carry out or ensure that all risk assessments, e.g. clinical risk assessment, COSHH, Legionella, Moving and Handling etc. are carried out in a rigorous and timely manner
  4. Monitor the standard of cleanliness of the home to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory bodies
  5. Induct and orientate new staff in a timely fashion, ensuring statutory as well as other training is provided, maximising the ability for new starts to become integrated into a new working environment
  6. Proactively participate in the company quality and compliance policy and procedures.
  7. Work with local and regional management to develop and implement new services within the unit.
  8. Maintain and monitor RQIA regulations within the home and support staff training
  9. Ensure all new employees are inducted, trained, motivated and supported to achieve company standards. 

Experience

A sound working knowledge of the statutory requirements associated with care of the elderly is essential. A good understanding of budgets is desirable. The ability to write and implement marketing plans is desirable as is the importance of understanding the advantages of public relations activity and it's positive impact in the nursing home environment. 

Must be NMC registered.
